Every year, the 31st of October rolls around and the anticipation of the predictable date ruffles a lot of feathers in my household. First of all, I cringe when I open the cabinets and still find residual evidence of last year’s Halloween candy. You know the pieces that no one likes, but you dare to throw it away because your child is basing the success of the day’s treasure on the amount of candy and weight of the bag or bucket. It’s silly thinking, right? Well it happens every year, and each year around September after the first few weeks of school, I am on a delayed spring cleaning rampage and all you can hear echoing throughout the walls are my rants about the nasty, oily, smashed leftover candy held hostage in the snack cabinet.
Even though I fuss before the day lands, I’m definitely happy to indulge in more than a little chocolate treats on the way home…and possibly next year’s delayed spring cleaning.
